Hi, My name is Victoria. I am from the boogie-down Bronx (NYC). I have been at Thacher for two years, and I am the sophomore class president, and. I have been at Thacher for the past two years. I first visited Thacher when I was about ten and my brother was a student here.
Like best about Thacher (can be more than one thing)
Saturday night Open House at the Mulligans’ (the delicious cookies) and the sense of community
Favorite class? Why?
Chemistry. I find the class very interesting. I love learning about all the different chemicals and formulas. When I was at home, I actually found myself trying to figure out the formulas to all the ingredients my mom uses to cook with!
People at Thacher—What are they like?
Peers, schoolmates, faculty, staff others at Thacher Everyone is very welcoming. Sometimes I get homesick, because I am really close to my family and being away can sometimes be overwhelming—but I have the my peers and my advisor to give me a helping hand and support. That is something that I love about the people at Thacher. Teachers are not only concerned with you as a student but as a person, too.
Advice for kids considering boarding school or Thacher in particular?
Be very open minded. Know what you are looking for in a school and test the waters. Do not settle for things that you are used to.
My experience at Thacher has been . . .
Throughout my time here, I have experienced things that I would have never done anywhere else. I’ve learned to ride and take care of horses, something that I will be able to do for the rest of my life. I have learned how to survive in the wilderness. And I have learned to take responsbilty of myself and to be an independent young woman.
