My name’s Tawni. Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey. One of my teachers suggested this program for talented students, called NJ SEEDS, that I applied for and made it through. Thanks to them, I found Thacher and am currently a Freshman of the class of 2011 and loving it. Compared to other schools, Thacher felt most like home. Now…it IS home.
What I like best about living/studying at Thacher:
You’re always busy, even if you have nothing to do. Your friends, teachers, and games are always in reach, and its great!
My favorite class is English because we get a chance to read lots of different stories and analyze everything about them, getting deeper and expressing our ideas. They are all open discussions.
People at Thacher—peers, schoolmates, faculty, staff, others—who have influenced me positively and how:
The prefects and classmates have made the change from being so far from home so easy for me, and they really made it seem like we were all a family before we even knew each other.
Advice for someone thinking about going away to school or specifically coming to Thacher:
Going away to just any school can be difficult, but coming away to go to Thacher is a great choice. Just be yourself, and plan to have fun. Keeping an open mind about every new experience Thacher can provide makes both ends of the applications, interviews, and outcomes much easier and more enjoyable.
