Coming back to Thacher after my year abroad was like being welcomed home. Despite new buildings and sports fields, new teachers and students, Thacher is still the same. Although I didn’t know more than half the student body, I still found it welcoming. My friends have grown taller, have longer hair, or have deeper voices, but they are, in essence, the same friends I left at the end of sophomore year. I have a different horse and a different room but my same roommate, and we still argue over the same things. Almost a month in and I am already tired of work but still satisfied when it is done well (as usual), and I am already looking forward to Thanksgiving break. Being a senior isn’t too different from being anything else aside from harder classes, but I suppose such things are only relative. I still keep in touch with my family in Italy, and Spanish class is a little more difficult than it used to be, but it is still better than Latin. My life has rolled back into its familiar patterns that I love and appreciate that much more after a year away.
