I’m Max, and I’m from Santa Barbara, California. I arrived as a freshman, excited about the whole experience after hearing my older brother rave about his time as a Toad. I’m currently a junior.

Like best about Thacher:
the community and the sense of independence I have here

Favorite classes:
History and English, because I like having the freedom to be creative and to interpret things myself to create my own opinion.

People at Thacher who’ve influenced me:
I love living with the great group of guys in my class. It’s also awesome to be able to have fun and, at the same time, learn from teachers. I also like being able to hang out with upperclassmen—something that happens more here than at most schools I know.

Advice for kids considering boarding school or Thacher:
During the whole application process, don’t worry about being accepted or not—just be yourself, and you’ll be fine!
