Hello, my name is Leandra and I’m a Junior here at Thacher. When I first arrived at Thacher, at the beginning of this year, I was coming from Natick, Massachusetts. Then a couple of months into school, my family moved to San Antonio, Texas, where I live (when I’m not at Thacher, of course) now. I found out about Thacher from my Dad’s cousins when I was shown the Thacher website in third grade. Ever since I first heard about the Silver Dollar Club, I’d wanted to come to Thacher!

Like best about Thacher?
The extremely inviting and ‘zest-filled’ environment, and the unique riding program, as well as the atmosphere Thacher offers that enables one to have unlimited (and rare) opportunities

Favorite class? Why?
Probably physics (though science had never been my favorite subjects before), because it opens up my mind to unimaginable possibilities and it’s so cool to know why things happen in all aspects of life. (It’s always fun to catch physics errors in movies, too.)

People at Thacher – peers, schoolmates, faculty, staff, others of influence?
Everyone at Thacher influences me every day in a way that I would never replace.

Advice for kids considering boarding school, or Thacher in particular?
I was nervous at first to board across the country, three thousand miles away from home, but Thacher is just so welcoming. I almost felt bad when I wasn’t homesick! It’s like a second home here.
