Seven Semesters Down!

by Kaja :: Wednesday December 14, 2005

I have finally made it through first semester of my senior year, and scary part is that Thacher is almost over for me. I can’t believe I’ll be leaving this school in a matter of months. That will be a sad moment in my personal history—so I will try to avoid it for now.

College! I get my decision from Stanford tomorrow. I am a little nervous, because a lot of the other seniors have already received their early decision letters, and though a few have gotten into their top choices, more have been deferred. This is supposed to be the most competitive year in the history of college matriculation (and of course, it had to be our class!). So it’s really sad seeing a lot of friends, as well qualified as they are, get turned away from the college of their dreams. I’m not saying Stanford is the college of MY dreams, but because it’s my first decision letter, it would be nice for it to be an acceptance just so I don’t get into a trend of rejection. I guess I’ll wait and see.

Finals were a bit killer: lots of papers, lots of information, and it all matters because our mid-year grades are sent to all the colleges we apply to. I think I did okay though for the most part. I only had four to take this term; hopefully, at the end of next semester, I’ll have ZERO! I was a bit dead at the end of my last final (these were all AP classes), but happy and victorious nonetheless. I let out all my energy that night with my classmates when the senior class caroled for the dorms after check-in. It was so much fun, and the best part was Mully (our Head of School) taking us into the new Performing Arts building, which isn’t officially open yet. It is UNBELIEVABLE! It’s huge, and there are these great practice rooms which I can’t wait to play in for my Independent Project (I’m doing violin). Our class really bonded while we sang Domine and The Banquet Song on the stage (the first class to sing on that stage), while Mully took pictures. It was certainly a great way to end a semester.
