Reunion w/ Riley

Every Tuesday during my sophomore year, I would babysit Riley, the toddler daughter of two Thacher faculty members. Before I started the job, I had a free period at the end of the day, and, I would spend the time either chatting online or attempting to do some homework. However I was not so successful at getting anything done.

Soon the Carneys allowed me the opportunity to spend my time more productively by hiring me as their babysitter. I remember Riley’s vocab was limited to “duuuuck!” and “bebe,” just two words. That was two years ago, and though since then, there have been some offers to spend quality time with Riley, I could not make it because of a conflict in my schedule.

Finally this year, the right moment came: the Carneys had to proctor the SAT’s on Saturday and I happened to be free from any other obligations. I discovered that Riley has grown up so much since then. She has become a non-stop chatter and an abstract artist. More importantly, uses she uses the word “baby” more frequently, for now she has a baby brother, Rob. I can’t tell you how much fun it is to watch Riley and Rob grow up and become more and more adorable as time goes by.
