The Home Stretch--Semester I

by Jordan :: Friday December 9, 2005

Thanksgiving was a nice change of pace from our busy lives here at Thacher. Seeing my family again and being able to eat a home cooked meal is always enjoyable, yet returning to Thacher was also a pleasurable experience. Over the past four years, Thacher has become my home away from home through the strong connections I have made here with my friends and teachers. Another perk of Thacher is the food, which made it an easy transition from home back to school.

The only glaring trouble in returning to Thacher at this time are finals. Review has begun and I have found that there is an abundance of material that we must re-familiarize ourselves with. I plan on investing a lot in the next few days, because I know how demanding some of these exams will be. Once I buckle down, though, I’m pretty sure that this week will fly by. In addition, even with the anxiety of finals comes something good: the delicious tradition known as “finals treats.” Thacher does a great job of rewarding our hard work and efforts with this study break, where the whole school gets together to eat different kinds of snacks every night during exam period.

But what better reward can there be except winter break lurking around the corner? After a week of hard work, I will be home once again, enjoying the company of my family for the holidays.
