Tests

by Jordan :: Thursday October 13, 2005

This past Saturday was a true test of both my mental and physical strengths. My mental exploit was taking the SAT for the last time, which was in itself extremely draining. Overall, the 4 1/2-hour exam went rather well; however, it definitely took its toll on my mental morale. Yet while the experience was difficult, it served as a fitting precursor to my next challenge of the day.

After the SAT, five other seniors and I hopped into a school Suburban and made our way to Canoga Park to play the Faith Baptist Contenders. They have been “the measuring stick of the Heritage League” in the past according to an Ojai Valley News sports columnist, yet we gave them a real run for their money. They did not expect us to play as we did, and though we have plenty of room for improvement, this game was a great indication for the kind of team we can bring into the playoffs this year.

By nighttime, I felt as though I had proven to myself that I could accomplish various feats within a single day. I walked out of the SAT overwhelmed with a sense of success, and though we came up short against a very solid Faith Baptist team, I am glad to see we were able to play with one of the elite teams at our level.
