Jordan

Hey, my name is Jordan, and I’m from Los Angeles, California. Thacher has been a part of my life for many years, starting when my brother decided to apply here in 1994. I began my own journey through Thacher as a freshman, and have particularly enjoyed dedicating myself to athletics here. Now I’m a senior with more responsibility and an even stronger sense of appreciation for what Thacher gives its students.

Like best about Thacher:
one-on-one sessions with teachers, time in the dorm, Indoor Committee events, closer relationships with friends.

Favorite class:
Math and English, one for practical reasons (aspirations towards business in college and life), the other for growing in my ability to command the language in writing and conversation.

People at Thacher who’ve influenced me:
Everyone I’ve met here!

Advice for kids thinking about boarding school or Thacher:
To be honest, just be yourself when you tour. Be yourself in your interview and on your application, and most important, be yourself when you get here. The staff and faculty are extremely supportive, so if you feel the need to hide any of your weaknesses . . . well, there really IS no need! They can help you flourish under any circumstances. A phrase you’ll hear around her a lot is “It builds character.” That “it” ranges from a hard homework assignment to climbing up a rocking mountain—it all helps build who you will become after your fulfilling years at Thacher.

My experience at Thacher has been…
very satisfying. I have never been at a place where I’ve had the opportunity to do such varied activities as ride a horse, go trekking in the Sespe River Wilderness, play in CIF championships, and be effectively challenged in the classroom—all in the company of some of the best people/friends I believe I will ever meet. I can’t stress how invigorating the Thacher experience is and the sense of accomplishment I feel at the end of almost every day.
