A Memorable Beginning

by Joe :: Tuesday September 26, 2006

The beginning of my year at Thacher has been very memorable so far. Having originally come back a week early for a five a.m. wake up call so I could participate in the illustrious Toads’ football camp, I have now been at Thacher for five weeks. Football so far is excellent; our team is really melding and so far we are 2-0 in a perfect season.

Not too soon after arrival, to mix things up a little bit, we were evacuated due to poor-quality air resulting from a monstrosity of a fire. After the fire had consumed what seemed like several continents, it decided to turn its focus on the quaint town of Ojai, but it never got too close to us. Little did the fire know that we have an amazing evacuation/ squirt gun collection in camp supply. John and I went with our prefect to Carpenteria to beat the smoke and have a little old fashioned fun boogie boarding.

The most recent twist this year was Eric Bibb’s performance in our PAC (Performing Arts Center), a concert that will go down in Thacher lore as one of the best ever.
