Sack Race Challenge

by Hector :: Sunday February 11, 2007

It's winter, and gymkhana season is just around the corner. This is the time to get ready and start practicing races so that I can make the most out of spring. I have been preparing for one race in particular: the Sack Race--one of the more difficult feats one can accomplish on horseback.

The Sack Race consists of cantering around a burlap sack and while making a 180-degree turn. At the turn, you lean off to the side and attempt to snatch the sack off the ground. It's definitely frustraing for both horse and rider, but if done successfully, it is a true milestone in horsemanship.

I have not picked it up yet, but with a little more practice, Illl have that sack in my hands in no time. Then if i get good enough i might just go for the infamous Silver Dollar...
