Hi, I’m Amanda and I’m a sophomore at Thacher. I arrived at Thacher as a freshman from Burlington, New Jersey. I found out about Thacher through A Better Chance Program whose goal is to help put minorities into better schools.

What I like best about living/studying at Thacher:
is having my friends always with me, day or night.

My favorite class is/classes are
math because I love the feeling that I get when I complete an answer that I thought was nearly impossible.

People at Thacher—peers, schoolmates, faculty, staff, others—who have influenced me positively and how:
My teachers have shown me that whenever I’m in doubt, I should ask. They have helped me learn that no matter how hard something is or seems, they will help me. I am the kind of person who gets worked up over the smallest things, and my teachers have shown me to chill out.

Advice for someone thinking about going away to school or specifically coming to Thacher:
Do not worry about the distance! There is always a way to stay communicated with your family and families near by are always willing to let you into their homes.
