My name is Alina, and I’m from McCall, Idaho. I am a sophomore this year. Thacher was always where I wanted to go to school: my grandfather, father, aunt and brother all graduated from CdeP (“Casa de Piedra”—another name for Thacher).

Like best about Thacher:
fast trail rides with my friends, the closeness of the community and people who sincerely care about it, the view from the Outdoor Chapel.

Favorite class:
English, because I love literature and analytical writing. Arguments in class are cool, too, expecially because everyone has a lot to say on differing sides.

Advice for kids considering boarding school or Thacher:
Don’t be afraid of the Horse Program! There’s a closeness that you get with your horse that can give you a boost on even the worst of days. It’s always nice to have that silent communication and understanding.

My experience at Thacher has been…
110%. Thacher is an amazing place, with some of the most interesting and fun people I have ever met. It’s really hard not to smile daily because of this and the warm Ojai weather—and the satisfaction that comes at the end of an academically challenging day.
