Into Another World

It’s July 2 now and Thacher seems like a whole different lifetime. It was a great experience but at the same time, I feel relieved to be finally released into the “real” world. I’ve spent a good portion of this last month visiting old Thacher friends and it’s reassuring to know that I’ve made a few enduring friendships. As for what I plan to do with the rest of my summer, there is only one thing left: my trip to Argentina.

Through a few contacts of mine, I somehow managed to scramble together a part time law internship Marval, O’Farrell & Mairal in Buenos Aires. I’m traveling by myself to Buenos Aires in mid-July and taking a Spanish immersion course and then working for the months of August and September (school doesn’t start for me until late September). As of now, I think I will be mostly an English language aide, special projects assistant, and an all-purpose office monkey. I hope that by the end of my stay I can transition into a more active role concerning the law. Besides work at the firm, Argentina should be a blast, and I’m hoping to go fly fishing in Patagonia in addition to checking out the famed Iguazu Falls.
